Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations. Its roots lie in the traditions and ceremonies of the medieval stonemasons who built our cathedrals and castles. Some rituals are still celebrated today.
The Three Great Principles
For many years Freemasons have followed three great principles:
Brotherly Love - Every true Freemason will show tolerance and respect for the opinions of others and behave with kindness and understanding to his fellow creatures.
Relief - Freemasons are taught to practice charity and to care, not only for their own, but also for the community as a whole, both by charitable giving, and by voluntary efforts and works as individuals.
Truth - Freemasons strive for truth, requiring high moral standards and aiming to achieve them in their own lives.
Freemasons believe that these principles represent a way of achieving higher standards in life.
Freemasonry has always been about making good men better. Individuals aim to shape their lives round five core principles.
Integrity: We say what we mean and we keep our promises.
Kindness: Although our families come first, we believe in playing a key role in our communities and give time and money to charitable ventures.
Honesty: We pride ourselves on openness, about what being a Freemason means for us.
Fairness: We treat everyone as equal – we listen to others, explore any differences and look for common ground.
Tolerance: We respect the opinions of others and behave with understanding towards them..

Freemasonry & How To Join
Freemasonry has a remarkable history dating back more than three centuries and is one of the world's oldest secular fraternities. We are a society of men concerned with upholding social and moral values and who believe in three great principles of Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth and we aim to bring together men of goodwill, regardless of background and differences.
People might think that to become a Freemason is difficult. It is actually quite simple. The essential qualifications for admission is that you have a belief in a Supreme Being . . . we will explain more if you get in touch.
It is usual for candidates to be "mature men of 21 years and over", but in some circumstances candidates between the ages of 18 and 21 can be admitted.
If you are interested in finding out how to become a Freemason, please email email@example.com for details.
A mythic past. A visionary future. A legendary brotherhood.
Freemasonry is the world's largest, oldest and best-known gentleman's fraternity. It is based on the medieval stonemason guilds who built the great castles and cathedrals of Europe. Modern Freemasons use the tools, traditions and terminology of those earlier stonemasons as allegories for building temples in the hearts of men.
It's said that we are a secret society. We do indeed have secrets—secrets that each individual man has to discover for and about himself.
At its core, Freemasonry is simply an attempt to make the world a better place, one man at a time. For that man, it can become as simple or as complicated as he himself desires. It's not for everybody. Maybe it's for you.
